  • Billy's 80th Birthday

    Tue 13 Dec 2016

On Friday, 18th November, we celebrated a milestone birthday with our beloved and long-serving Lollipop Man, Billy.  As a way of commemorating Billy's 80th birthday, each class in the school performed a song, poem, rap, painted pictures or displayed other forms of talent with a special Road Safety/Lollipop/Billy theme.  Each class also presented Billy with a special 80th birthday card.

Billy and his family were entirely surprised by the special assembly and Billy was clearly moved by the amount of work that had gone into showing him how much he means to us all.

A huge birthday cake and some party food was enjoyed by all.  Happy 80th Birthday, Billy!

  • Ditch the Dark day!

    Tue 13 Dec 2016

Braniel Primary School is participating in a Sustrans programme called ‘Active Travel’. To promote safe and active means of travelling to school we celebrated ‘Ditch the Dark’ day where we all wore bright clothes to school and many of us travelled to school by, foot, scooter or bike.

We had a special assembly with Emma, our Sustrans coordinator, and she showed us her special folding bike and gave us lots of information about why active travel to school is so important. The Year 6 and Year 7 pupils participated in special lessons about the history of the bike. We all had a fantastic day and can’t wait to participate in more special events next year.
