  • Year 7 Prize Winners

    Fri 23 Jun 2017

As our Year 7 pupils move on to their Post Primary schools, we would like to congratulate them all on the excellent contributions they have made to Braniel Primary School.  We are very proud of each and every one of our Year 7's and are filled with confidence that they will all achieve great things as they continue to grow and develop into young adults.

We have established a tradition of awarding trophies for exceptional achievement in a selection of areas of school life and you will find photos of the pupils with their awards below.

    Well done everyone!

  • Super Hero Day

    Tue 13 Jun 2017

On Friday, 2nd June, all our pupils and staff came to school dressed as Super Heroes in order to raise awareness of Mitochondria Disease.  The younger brother of one of our pupils sadly lost his battle with this disease in May and we all learned a bit about his story and dressed up in tribute to his love of Super Heroes.

The entire school went for a walk and picnic on the Marshwiggle Way which was quite a sight as hundreds of Supermen, Batmen and Wonder Women crossed the Dual Carriageway!  We are sure young Jensen would have loved it.

  • Online Safety Talk

    Tue 13 Jun 2017

We are very grateful to our local Community Policing Officer, Michelle Cearney, for coming to visit us on Wednesday, 7th June.  She delivered a very informative and thought-provoking talk about online safety to our Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils.

Michelle had some frightening facts and scenarios but some great advice about how to protect ourselves on Social Media!

  • C.S. Lewis Project

    Tue 06 Jun 2017

Our Year 7 pupils were very fortunate to be invited to participate in a C.S. Lewis themed project run by the Lyric Theatre and the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership.  The pupils attended two Drama Workshops led by Drama coaches from the Lyric Theatre during which each class prepared a scene from "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

On Monday, 5th June, they headed off to the Lyric Theatre where they, along with partner school St. Bronagh's from Rostrevor, performed their scenes in the Naughton Studio.  They also received a tour of the theatre and stopped off at the C.S. Lewis Square on the way home.

The project will conclude on Monday, 12th June, when our Year 7's will visit the home town of their new friends from St. Bronagh's and follow the Narnia Trail at Kilbroney Forest Park in Rostrevor.

What a great experience for our pupils and a fantastic way to bring the Land of Narnia to life!
